It is NOT the elementary school campus on Nuuanu Avenue, so please be careful when you search on Google Map.) Title of Workshop: Content-Driven Teaching that Promotes Global Competency in the Japanese Language and Culture Classroom Date & Time: Saturday, April 13, 2019 (8:30am - 4:00pm) Sunday, April 14, 2019 (9:00am - 1:00pm) Click Here for Tentative Schedule (details may be subject to change) Location: Multi-purpose room at Sacred Hearts Academy in Kaimuki 3253 Waialae Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816 The focus of the workshop is on designing a thematic unit that promotes active and engaging learning experiences that support the four domains of the Global Competence Framework: Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, Communicate Ideas, and Take Action. Instructional strategies that elicit critical thinking, responsible social action, problem-solving, and innovative learning will be explored using authentic Japanese cultural texts and other resources. Participants will create a unit plan during the workshop. Thank you for your wonderful presentation and sharing valuable experiences and resources. Scott sensei's passion for teaching Japanese is amazing.
