On November 5, 2016, Professor Tohsaku gave us a passionate and insightful speech on the globalization and its inevitable influence in education. He challenged us what we can do as Japanese language educator today and tomorrow. Creating effective rubric was the theme of the workshop in the afternoon. Here are some scenes from the fruitful learning and networking day. 30 enthusiastic Japanese educators had a great time learning and sharing at the Mid-Pacific Institute. He wrote the the first communicative-oriented Japanese language textbooks published in the United States textbook, also used by the Japanese language program, Yookoso!: An Invitation to Contemporary Japanese and Yookoso!: Continuing with Contemporary Japanese. More than 30 teachers from all over Oahu participated in our 2016 Spring Workshop with Yo Azama Sensei on Sunday, March 6, 2016. We also were able to connect with one teacher from the Big Island and 2 other teachers from Oahu who could not be present due to various reasons via Google Hangout video conference! 3 hours flew by as Azama Sensei gave us a fun-filled, meaningful talk to motivate our students to learn Japanese language and culture. Thank you, Azama Sensei. Also, Mahalo to the Sacred Hearts Academy for providing a wonderful venue to have this workshop.
