As part of the New Year celebration, HATJ will be hosting the Nengajo Contest 2024! We invite all students from elementary school to college level to showcase their creativity and send their heartfelt New Year's greetings through beautiful artwork. Here are all the details you need to know:

1. BNYSG Presents Special Workshop by Ms. Yoshiko Abbott Saito Saturday, November 11
We are pleased to announce a special Boston x New York Joint Workshop to be held during the NECTJ Annual Conference on November 11-12, 2012.
We have invited Ms. Yoshiko Abbott Saito of the University of California, Monterey Bay, who is a proponent of standards-based education in the field of Japanese language education, to join us for a special workshop to review what 21st century Japanese language education should be like under her guidance, to reconsider what we as teachers should be like, and to think together about concrete action plans. We will also reconsider what we should be as teachers and come up with a concrete action plan together with you. We look forward to your participation!

3. Manga Tour 2024
Manga Educational Tour to Japan is for high school students in Hawaii who are interested in learning more about Japanese manga. If you want to pursue manga as a major, this tour is for you! With the cooperation of Bunsei University of Art, you will experience hands-on Manga. Mr. Kazuo Maekawa, a famous professional manga artist, will attend your learning.

11月11日から12日にかけて行われるNECTJ Annual Conference内で行われるボストンxニューヨーク合同勉強会特別企画についてご案内
特別ワークショップとし、日本語教育界におけるスタンダードベース教育の推進者でいらっしゃるカリフォルニア大学モントレーベイ校 齋藤アボット佳子先生をお招きし、先生のご指南のもとで21世紀型日本語教育とはどのようなものなのかを確認し、教師としてのあるべく姿を再考しつつ具体的なアクションプランを皆さんと一緒に考えていきたいと思います。皆さん、ぜひご参加ください!

日本の漫画をもっと知りたい、学びたい、さらには日本で漫画学科を持つ大学に進学して将来漫画を職業としたいと考えているハワイの高校生の皆さんを対象に、昨年に引き続き“日本の漫画を学ぶ旅”(Manga Educational Tour)を企画しました。日本漫画界の巨匠、ちばてつや先生が学長を務められた文星芸術大学のご協力のもと、同学を訪問し先生方から特別授業を受け、またそこに学ぶ学生たちと交流します。
この漫画教育ツアーは、6泊8日の日程で催行しますが、後半の行程ではハワイでも有名な漫画家の前川かずお先生が同行してくだり、東京都内の漫画/アニメの聖地を訪ねます。
